About the film

A Bit of Background

Filmed in July of 2020, in South Florida, I Wanna Be a Criminal is the first feature film of writer/director Steve Belanger.

The premise of the film stems from a short script written by Steve in 2018. The script followed a team of robbers who attempted to rob a suburban home but failed spectacularly. 

​

This idea of a character who tries extremely hard to become a criminal but just couldn't cut it was a catalyst for Steve. It led to a successful kickstarter campaign and the start of a three year journey to create Steve's first feature film.
